When a member of the Hult Founders Lab succeeds, we celebrate their success, as a team. Recently, one of the founders in the Hult Founders Lab, Cara Regier, competed at the Vertex Summit, in November. Cara placed in the top three!
Friday, October 19th, the Hult Founders Lab officially launched its fall 2018 program by kicking off with a cohort 360 and roast at the Hult London UG Campus. We invited all founders for a pitching session in which each start-up presented their idea to the rest of the cohort and receive feedback from each other. The pitching time was kept shorter than the Q&A intentionally to spark debate between founders and see if there were any synergies between them.
To celebrate entrepreneurship week, the Hult Founders Lab (HFL) was honored to have a panel on the Future of Entrepreneurship with three wonderful guests; Dhiraj Mukherjee, the co-founder of Shazam, Andy Jefferies, the co-founder of Dock & Bay which featured on an episode of Dragons’ Den, and Dr. David James, one of our wonderful professors who has taken an active role in promoting entrepreneurship on our campus. Those in attendance, including Hult students, were blessed with great information that we didn’t think should be confined to just this talk. Therefore, we decided to summarize some of the key points for you here in hopes that if you were unable to make it, you can still learn from their wisdom.
Many thanks for all of you who were able to make it out for the 2Click Solutions presentation last week! It was great to hear from former Hult students about the path that they have taken since leaving Hult and the lessons that they have learned along the way while starting their global company!
Event recap: Last Tuesday the Hult Founders Lab was able to host Andrea Knopova, an alumna of Hult, as she launched ImpromptMe here in London. ImpromptMe is a social media startup that aims to connect people in a very disconnected world. “Technology connected the world, but disconnected people” is the problem that ImpromptMe sets out to solve by creating a platform that’s sole purpose is to get people to meet face to face.
The START Summit is an international entrepreneurship summit that takes place in St. Gallen every year, bringing together entrepreneurs, VCs, investors, and speakers from all over the world for a couple of days of intense networking, pitching, and brainstorming. It is the leading student-run entrepreneurship conference in Europe and brings together over 2000 participants to foster innovation and entrepreneurship. Several Hult students were able to take part in the 2018 summit and greatly enjoyed their experiences. Two of our Founders, Adriano, and Monica Fantino, a bother and sister pair out to start their own company, were part of the Hult delegation and let us ask them a few questions about their experience!
Entrepreneurship panel recap: Celebrating the Week of Disruption at Hult is no ordinary thing. With panellists from Y Combinator, Zipcar, Founders Factory and many more, the Hult Founders Lab was able to join in the discussion about start-up ecosystems, everyday life at a start-up and the implications of Brexit to the bustling London scene.
PitchBook came to Hult to talk about their company to our Founders and stayed after the event for a little bit of networking as well! We were so grateful for their time and glad to see that our Founders were able to hear about such a useful tool to help their startups reach their next level of funding!
